LETTER TO THE CARE COMMUNITY FROM CHRISTINA
Dear friends and constituents in the care community ,
I am grateful for your dedication in supporting and caring for Iowans. Having grown up the daughter of a child-care worker and in a family that cared for both of my grandmothers, I understand your essential role. I also seek and value your support of my congressional campaign. Together, we can do more for care workers and the thousands of Iowans they care for.
One of the primary roles of government is to support and value families. This also means valuing those who provide care when families need it. Families shouldn’t have to make impossible choices between keeping their jobs and caring for their families. I support providing critical support for families who want to provide for their families but need help – and that means valuing those providing that care, ensuring they are well-compensated and have a voice in the organizations in which they serve.
Much of what most people will see and hear in this election will be in television and radio ads, mailings, social media, and news coverage of hot-button issues. At the same time, I want you to know that I will fight in Congress for a care agenda that represents what is the best in our society and most needed for our prosperous future. Government, and therefore those who you elect to represent you, simply must do more to support this workforce so it can, in turn, support Iowa’s families and their children, elders, and everyone in between.
